The player's dad, Arvin, talks about a Magic Hat, which has many powers and can be used by evil or good. This city is one out of many regions on a very large island. The player is a dog or cat, depending on the game, living in a small house in South Pawville.
Unlike the PC and DS versions, Petz Dogs 2 and Petz Cats 2 are actually adventure games, so instead of taking care of a virtual pet, the player plays as a dog or cat who lives in a village on a large island, and who goes on an adventure to stop an evil wolf from destroying the universe.
